Looking to learn about the relation between quantum physics and the mind? How does our mind affect the reality around us? In this post, you’ll find a detailed explanation to the relation between quantum physics and the mind!

quantum physics and the mind

Quantum physics can be a complex subject to grasp and understand! However, for those who want to dive deep into the study of our world and our reality, this is the subject to study.

After going through my fair share of confusion, attempting to piece together the information I was looking for, I can finally say that I’ve got a much better understanding of quantum physics and the mind, which I’m going to share with you today!

This post is all about quantum physics and the mind!

Quantum physics and the mind

First and foremost, if you haven’t yet read my previous blog post “intro to quantum mechanics”, you’ll want to read it first as we address some fundamental concepts that I’m going to assume are already understood when reading today’s post. You can open my last post in a new tab here.

For the sake of flow and organization, I’m going to break today’s post into the following sections:

  • All possibilities exist at the same time
  • Subatomic breakdown of how thoughts create reality
  • Perception is everything
  • The conscious and subconscious mind creation role

All possibilities exist at the same time

quantum consciousness debunked

So, what exactly does “all possibilities exist at the same time” mean? It means exactly that - that all possibilities are happening at the same time, and we choose which one we want to enter.

Let me give you a super “real life” example, that I’m sure you’ll be able to understand, before we dive deeper into this.

Say your friends invite you to go shopping with them on Saturday. You have two choices:

  • Say yes and go shopping
  • Say no and stay home
quantum physics and the mind

You can also go about your day in many other ways too (i.e. decide to go for a walk, go visit your family, etc., there are infinite possibilities), but for the same of this example, let’s stick to those two.

Whichever choice you decide to make, has the potential to create a big impact on your life.

For example, if you decide to say yes and go shopping, perhaps you meet someone during your shopping trip that ends up having a big impact on your life for years to come.

On the other hand, say that you decide to say no and stay home, perhaps you come up with an amazing idea for your business, start to work on it, and this ends up completely transforming your business for years to come.

You see how simple choices have the potential to create a big impact on your life? Every decision we make, as small as they may seem, creates a different reality. Every choice we make, will have consequences (good or bad).

quantum physics and the mind

Now, I don’t think that you needed me to tell you this - that every decision we make in our life will lead to different outcomes, but I think this is a great way to introduce the concept that all realities exist at the same time, from a point of view that is simple to understand.

Subatomic breakdown of how thoughts create reality

Transitioning to a more “quantum” level, essentially, the decisions you make, will bring about new observations of your world. And new observations (observer effect), cause more/new waves to collapse into particles that make up the reality around you. In other words, creating a new reality.

quantum physics and the mind

We know this to be true from the observer effect theory that was concluded from the double slit experiment. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, you can catch up on my last post here, which explains it all.

You choose what “waves” you want to observe and collapse as “particles” to create the reality around you.

This not only goes for things and people, but also events, situations, and circumstances, as everything that makes up events, situations, and circumstances, are made of these subatomic particles that act as waves of particles at any given moment.

When we look at an atom, we can break it down as: atom > subatomic particles (electrons, neutrons, protons) > quarks > energy/frequency

quantum physics and the mind

Everything around us is made up of atoms, and therefore is energy/frequency.

If we were to look closely at a solid object, we would see that the smallest particles are in motion, vibrating.

Albert Einstein’s theory of e = mc2 explains this.

E = mc²

What this equation tells us is that energy = mass times the speed of light, squared. In plain english, this simply means that the mass, the matter, that we see around us, has an equal energy part, and the two are interchangeable.

And so, as “real” as our world feels, we’re essentially living in one big field of energy, ready to take on many forms based on how we observe and perceive it.

This is something we dissect even more in-depth inside the Law of Attraction School!

Law of Attraction School

To recap how our thoughts go from thoughts to physical matter, let’s look at this process in a simple step-by-step format:

1. You think a thought

2. You and your thought act as an observer to all the waves of possibilities around

3. The waves of possibilities that are observed based on your thought, collapse into a particle, making it appear “real” in our world

Perception is everything

observer effect quantum physics

Perception is everything! We only take in about 126 bits of information consciously, out of the 2+ million bits of information around us at a given moment! That’s a LOT of information (AKA parts of our reality) that is missed!

So what determines what it is that we do notice?

Our perception.

This ties in perfectly with the observer effect. What we perceive, in other words, simply means what we choose to observe. When you change your perception, you change what you choose to observe.

It’s not that the world around us changes necessarily, it is simply that our perception changes.

Confused? Let me share an example that will clear that up!

Let’s say that you get a new car.

quantum physics reality is an illusion

And then, all of a sudden, you start to see this car EVERYWHERE. Is it that a bunch of new cars started appearing out of nowhere? No, it’s simply that your perception has changed. The cars were always in existence (as energy/frequency, as waves), you simply weren’t perceiving them in your “real” reality!

The conscious and subconscious mind creation role

quantum physics for beginners

The conscious and the subconscious mind each play important parts in the creation role. What we create in our life, at a baseline, comes from the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. Let’s looks at each of these:

Conscious mind

quantum physics thoughts create reality

The conscious mind only makes up 5% of our mind.

It is the part of our mind that can consciously think and analyze (hence the term “conscious”).

We are able to analyze our thoughts, make thought through decisions, reflect, and analyze all through our conscious mind.

We are aware of what’s going on in there - all we have to do is simply look at what it is that we’re thinking about.

When it comes to brainwaves, when we are in our conscious mind, we are in a beta brainwave state. Beta is broken down into low beta (relaxed), beta (aware, but not stressed), and high beta (highly stressed). We typically fluctuate in and out of these states throughout our day, meaning that we are predominantly in a beta state throughout our day.

From this state, we can do all of the thinking, analysis, learning, and reflection that we need to do.

Subconscious mind

quantum mind power

On the other hand, the subconscious mind takes up about 95% of our mind!

This is the part of our mind that we are unaware of (hence the term “subconscious”).

Our subconscious mind stores all of our past memories, and holds our core belief system and values.

This part of our mind may bring to the surface “logic”, that doesn’t seem so logical to our current, conscious mind.

For example, if you were made fun of when you were younger during a class presentation, you may now have a pattern of avoiding public speaking, or anything related to it, at all costs. Say you want to start a youtube channel, it could be that you self-sabotage your potential in creating videos as your subconscious mind sees any form of public speaking exposure as “danger” and a “threat”.

This is just one example, however the subconscious mind affects our life in many ways that may not always be to our benefit.

When it comes to brainwaves, when we are in our subconscious mind, we are in either an alpha, theta, or delta state.

Even though we are now (past the age of 7-8) predominantly in a conscious (beta) state, this wasn’t always the case.

quantum spirituality

From 0 to about 7-8 years old, we were predominantly in a subconscious state. We started at delta, then theta, then alpha, spending about 2-3 years in each state. This is when the bulk of our programming happened.

We still enter these states periodically, despite being predominantly in a beta state.
Every time we go to sleep, we enter each state, one at a time, from alpha, to theta, to delta (sleep).

Now, as much as we are unaware of what goes on in our subconscious mind, if we take a look around us, we’ll be able to figure that out. We manifest and create our life from these proportions:

quantum mechanics and the mind

What this means is that what we believe subconsciously, will predominantly determine the reality we create.

Even if you (consciously) think “I want to make a lot of money”, but you have a subconscious belief that says “money is bad”, money will likely not come your way as much as you intend for it to come. The 95% subconscious program will out-rule the 5% conscious intention.

And this is where people will often say that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work for them, when in reality, it’s simply that the subconscious program isn’t lined up with the conscious intention.

You see, even though we can’t see our thoughts and feelings, they are very real. They affect our perception of the world, and of the waves and particles around us.

And this energy, whether we’re aware of it (conscious), or not (subconscious), is the “observer” force that we talked about earlier when it comes to the observer effect.

And therefore both our conscious and subconscious mind work together to create the reality you see around you.

This post was all about quantum physics and the mind! You now have a deeper understanding on how quantum physics works, when it comes to our mind affecting physical matter in our world!
